Toss is an interface through which several services can appear together. Merchant payment, a transfer from a linked outside bank and a Toss Bank transfer are not one financial product. The correct provider and operation must be identified before applying a limit or fee statement.
Read the product name behind the button
Toss Pay’s official service page describes the merchant-payment service provided by Viva Republica. Toss Bank is a bank context, and brokerage services are another category. A single app layout does not collapse their contracts or support responsibilities. Before paying, identify the selected funding source and whether the action is a merchant purchase, an account transfer or a banking operation. Keep the product name in any support request. This avoids a common error: taking a large bank-transfer limit from one help page and applying it to an outside bank account merely because both actions start in the Toss app.
Verified limits must retain their branch labels
| Account and operation | Per transfer | Per day |
|---|---|---|
| Linked outside-bank account, age 19 or above | 2,000,000 | 10,000,000 |
| Toss Bank after restricted-account status is removed | 10,000,000 | 50,000,000 |
| Toss Bank with the specified additional authentication | 100,000,000 | 500,000,000 |
The first row comes from the linked-account transfer FAQ; the bank rows come from the Toss Bank limit FAQ. Their official indexed text was retrievable, while direct page extraction returned no full body. These are therefore scoped references to recheck in the app, not an exhaustive statement of exceptions or a guarantee that a particular account qualifies. Restricted accounts and other verification states can differ.
Age and verification are material conditions
The linked-account FAQ separately lists customers under 19: KRW 500,000 per transfer, KRW 1,000,000 per day and KRW 2,000,000 per month. Those figures must not be replaced by the adult row. Similarly, the larger bank row depends on the specified additional authentication and is not an automatic entitlement for every bank customer. A daily ceiling does not establish the remaining allowance after earlier transfers. Read the app’s current limit and the reason for any restriction; do not attempt to evade a control by splitting transactions across accounts or devices. Ask support to identify the applicable account state.
What the free-transfer policy does not establish
Toss’s official domestic free-transfer policy announced the removal of domestic simple-transfer fees from 2 August 2021. That is a service-scope statement. It does not prove that international remittances, cash withdrawals, foreign-currency services, card products or every Toss Bank operation are free. A merchant payment may also involve a separate funding product with its own terms. Check the actual confirmation screen and the relevant product fee schedule. If an unexpected charge appears, preserve the operation name and receipt instead of assuming the familiar app logo determines which company charged it.
Separate a purchase refund from an outgoing transfer
A merchant cancellation should be traced through the purchase and its original payment record. A stranger instructing you to make a new transfer in order to receive a refund is asking for a different operation. Read the authorisation screen, verify the merchant through the original order and avoid sharing login or one-time codes. If a payment fails, check its final status before trying again; an unclear screen does not prove that no money moved. Retain both the order reference and the payment reference so that the merchant and payment provider can locate the same transaction without requiring unnecessary personal information.
Keep access and identity requirements separate
A Korean mobile connection does not automatically establish eligibility for every Toss or bank product. A phone’s ability to receive a text, the customer’s identity verification and the product’s account-opening conditions are separate. This guide does not promise access to a short-term visitor or prescribe a way around verification. Use the official app and support route, checking the provider named for the operation. If the phone is lost, contact the affected services and mobile operator through known channels; changing one password does not necessarily revoke every active session or restore a missing SIM.
Keep two transfer records separate
If you use an outside-bank account for one transfer and Toss Bank for another, label both records with the funding provider. Then add age or verification conditions relevant to each account. A successful bank transfer at one amount does not prove that the outside-bank route will accept the same amount. If support needs to investigate a difference, the product, timestamp and transaction reference are more useful than a screenshot of the app’s home screen. Redact unrelated balances when sharing evidence.
Product-boundary checklist
- Identify merchant payment, linked-account transfer or Toss Bank operation.
- Read the provider and funding source before confirming.
- Match the limit to age, account status and authentication.
- Check remaining allowance as well as the published ceiling.
- Keep domestic transfer pricing separate from unrelated fees.
- Save order and payment references and use official support.
The table is dated 23 October 2026 and retains the retrieval limitation of the official FAQ pages. Where the current app differs, its account-specific explanation and the provider’s clarification are needed. This article is an independent description of service boundaries, not a recommendation to open a bank or securities account.
Frequently asked questions
Does every action in Toss use Toss Bank’s limits?
No. Linked outside-bank transfers, merchant payments and Toss Bank operations have different product and account conditions.
Are the table’s highest limits automatic?
No. They depend on the specified bank account state and additional authentication; current eligibility must be checked.
Does free domestic transfer mean every financial service is free?
No. It does not establish pricing for foreign transfers, cash withdrawals, cards or unrelated products.
